India cricket team former captain MS Dhoni, who has an experience of 93 T20Is under his belt was excluded from India's T20I squad scheduled to play against West Indies and Australia.
The former skipper’s role an ODI batsman has come under scanner after he struggled to contribute runs with the bat. However, Dhoni’s former IPL coach, Stephen Fleming recently backed the 37-year-old to play in the 2019 World Cup.
"I think India have enough options within their squad to include Dhoni because his strength is immeasurable. Watching him in the last IPL, his batting was as good as it has been," Fleing told Gulf News
"He needs to have the confidence to go and play like that in the One Day Internationals and I think the big stage is something he is looking forward to," the 45-year-old added.
Recently, Indian cricket's team former skipper’s close friend and manager Arun Pandey revealed that the veteran is in no mood to back off from a shot at the World Cup next year.
With the ODI squad yet to be announced against Australia, there are chances that if Dhoni might be seen as a part of touring side.
When it comes to the shortest format of the game, Dhoni has 1487 runs in the format at a strike rate of 127.09.
