Hosts India take on West Indies in a do-or-die encounter in the second match of the 3-match ODI series at Vishakapatnam in sometime from now . The 'Men in Blue' would look for a reversal in their fortunes after being beaten in the series opener at Chennai and staring at a potential series defeat.
The Indians would need to bring out their top game against the power-packed Windies side which is looking for their first bilateral win over India since 2006. For the record, India have won their last 9 straight bilateral ODI series against West Indies.
With the rain gods expected to stay away at Vizag, the fans are in for a run feast at the batting friendly ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, which has histrically been a high run scoring venue.
Toss Report
Windies skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and invited India to bat first at Vizag. The Windies have made two changes to the playing eleven. Opener Ewin Lewis comes back in place of Sunil Ambris, while debutant Khary Pierre replaces Hayden Walsh as the front-line spinner in the team.
Pollard: We are going to field first. Sometimes you don't know how the surface plays, so better to know what you are chasing. We have to deal with what is in the present. We have two changes: Evin Lewis is back and Pierre.
"We wanted to field first. This is a ground where we have chased well. The pitch is better to play on than the last game. I think the dew was a massive factor in the last game. (Shimron)Hetmyer played brilliantly and (Shai)Hope as well," said India skipper Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli: We wanted to field first. This is a ground where we have chased well. The pitch is better to play on than the last game. I think the dew was a massive factor in the last game. Hetmyer played brilliantly and Hope as well. We need to be more brave and bring in the intensity to the game.
Pitch Report:
The average score is 280 and teams have been able to chase 300+ scores - it is a batting paradise. This glare you are seeing from the pitch is because it is a white color pitch.
Plenty of runs, looks like a good hard surface. The batsmen will be able to play their shots without worrying about the deviation. It is very close to how marble flooring is and there is no dust, soil or everything.
