IND vs IRE 1st T20I Highlights: India Beat Ireland By 2 Runs In Rain-Interrupted Game

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna dominated with the ball but then Barry McCarthy's unbeaten fifty guided Ireland to a competitive total of 139 runs.

The Indian team were batting at 47 runs in 6.5 overs when rain played spoilsport in the opening T20I of the three-match series on Friday at Dublin. Since India were two runs ahead as per the DLS method, they were declared the winners.

While chasing 140, India had a shaky start as they lost two quick wickets in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma but then Gaikwad came in and took the onus alongside Sanju Samson. It was Ireland’s bowler Craig Young who produced a double blow, snaring Jaiswal and Varma cheaply.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna dominated with the ball but then Barry McCarthy's unbeaten fifty guided Ireland to a competitive total of 139 runs after India decided to field. Bumrah who recuperated for 11 months due to a lower-back stress fracture, scalped 2 for 24, while Prasidh picked up 2 for 32. Spinner Ravi Bishnoi ended the game with the figures of 2/23 while Arshdeep Singh collected one wicket.

However, Indian bowlers were expensive in the slog overs of the game as skipper Bumrah delivered a brilliant penultimate over but Arshdeep gave away 22 runs in the last over of the game with McCarthy smashing him all around the park.
