Sourav Ganguly Reacts To Lord's Defeat, Points Out Player Failures

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has now shared his thoughts on the defeat and expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance.

The Indian team looked set to win the Lord's Test match, but a disappointing performance on the final day saw them fall short by 22 runs.

What seemed like a comfortable chase turned into a dramatic collapse, drawing criticism from veterans and fans alike.

On Day 5, India's batting lineup crumbled, and even a valiant effort from Ravindra Jadeja couldn't save the day. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has now shared his thoughts on the defeat and expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance.

Was a real chance to go 2-1 up, says Ganguly

Speaking at an event, Ganguly said, “A little bit disappointed, yes. The way India batted in this series so far they should have got this 190 (193) and seeing someone like Jadeja fight it out, you know the quality in this batting line-up is absolutely brilliant. I think they'll be more disappointed than I am because this was a real chance to go 2-1 up in the series.”

Commenting on Siraj's unlucky dismissal, Ganguly said, "No, not really strange. It's happened in cricket before — the ball hits the bat and rolls back onto the stumps. It's not the first time, and it won't be the last."

Ganguly believes India needed more stronger partnerships. “They just needed two solid stands. The little fight shown by Bumrah, Jadeja, and Siraj showed the game was still alive.”

Praise for Ravindra Jadeja’s Grit

Sourav Ganguly also lauded Ravindra Jadeja for his superb performance at Lord's.

“Jadeja was brilliant. As long as he keeps batting and performing like this, he should continue playing. He has been around for a long time, with around 80 Tests and over 200 ODIs to his name. Watching him bat, bowl, and field shows what a special player he is. His batting has really improved with experience, and he remains an invaluable part of the team,” Ganguly said.
