New Delhi: After a domestic violence incident, former Australia cricketer Michael Slater has been arrested on Wednesday in Sydney as per Reuters.
New South Wales (NSW) police have said that they began an investigation on Michael Slater on Tuesday after a report alleging domestic violence was filed against him last week.
According to the Reuters report, former cricketer's manager Sean Anderson has declined to share any comments regarding the report.
“Following inquiries, detectives attended a home at Manly about 9:20 a.m. and spoke with a 51-year-old man. He has since been arrested and taken to Manly police station,” NSW Police was quoted by Reuters in its report.
Michael Slater in his career played 74 tests from 1993-2001 and 42 one-day internationals. After his journey on fields, Slater became a fixture on Australian TV as a cricket commentator for 15 long years.
Earlier last month, Slater after his tirade with Prime Minister Scott Morrison for putting a ban on returnees from India, as the country was battling the covid-19 outbreak, was dumped from the Seven Network’s cricket commentary team.
"If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It's a disgrace!! Blood on your hands' PM. How dare you treat us like this. How about you sort out the quarantine system. I had government permission to work on the IPL but I now have government neglect," Slater tweeted on May 3, 2021.

To this, PM Morrisson replied that the accusations made by the former cricketer are nothing but absurd.
