England international and Yorkshire captain Gary Balance has decided to take an indefinite break from cricket, citing personal reasons and will miss “several” matches in the Royal London One-Day Cup, the club announced on Friday.

"Gary Ballance is set to miss several Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures after the club this week granted him some time away from the game due to personal reasons," Yorkshire said in a statement. "We ask that his privacy be respected during this time."

Ballance was dropped from Yorkshire’s opening fixture last week and also missed the previous game against Surrey with Steven Patterson leading the side.

The 28-year-old made his Test debut back in 2014 against Australia in the fifth Test in the Ashes series.

The Englishman has since played 23 Tests and also became the Yorkshire's captain replacing Andrew Gale in 2017 and had a phenomenal season as he garnered 961 runs in the season.
