After series win over Zimbabwe, MS Dhoni gets 'special' gift

Harare: It was an easy decision for MS Dhoni to go on the Zimbabwe tour. He had been playing regular cricket for the last six months and the Zimbabwe tour wasn’t a high priority for India. He had the choice to opt out of it but he didn’t want to waste the limited opportunities he has after quitting from Tests – India don’t have limited-overs assignment in the next several months. Barring a couple, Dhoni had all the new faces in his team for Zimbabwe. It seemed like a cakewalk for Men in Blue against Zimbabwe but it was a very slippery path. For, win wouldn’t have brought him praise but the loss would have put a big question mark on his captaincy. Yet, Dhoni decided to go on the tour. The ODI series went as expected. Young India thrashed Zimbabwe in all the three ODIs – by 9, 10 and 8 wickets respectively – to win the series. The real test came in the T20 series where Zimbabwe stunned India in the first T20. To make it worse, Dhoni himself faced the last ball when India required four runs to win. He could manage only one. However, India hit back strongly to thrash Zimbabwe in the second T20 and level the series. In the third and final T20, Team India had to fight hard to secure a narrow win. That gave India the T20 series too. Dhoni has seen so much success as India’s captain that this win over Zimbabwe was just a speck in his glittering career. But it held great importance and Dhoni was happy to achieve it. What spoiled fun for him was an injury to his eye. Luckily, it was not severe. To lift up his mood and help him celebrate the victory, he was served a special coffee in the morning. The coffee was served with his lucky number ‘7’ emblazoned on it. Dhoni immediately clicked a picture of it and posted on his twitter account with a 'thank you' message.
