"I love these big matches. To face the best guys in the world is what I do the hard work for at home and in the off-season," Thiem said after defeating Medveded. "After the first set, it was great tennis from both of us. I could have easily been down two-sets-to-one. I'm really happy to be through. It was a great semi-final."
However, the Austrian slipped a total of seven times during the game which caused his great discomfort. In the third set, Thiem was so frustrated with his slippery shoes that he started complaining about it on the court itself as he almost struggled to find grip. “What kind of shoes are these?! I’ve slipped 7 times already. Incredible,” cursed Thiem, in German.The slippery shoes not only annoyed the Austrian to max but also caused great pain in his ankle. According to reports, Thiem's physio Alex Stober has claimed that the World no. 3 will be fit to lock horns against No. 5 seed Alexander Zverev on Sunday, but the sore ankle is definitely a setback for him.
