Team India Fails Anil Kumble's One-hour Challenge

Both KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara got run out once during their outing.

And if you can't survive just one-hour, that too against the bowlers of your own team and in home conditions, how would you take on the opposition in alien conditions.

In Test matches, batsmen are expected to bat throughout the day.

The result of this unique session was nothing short of disaster as Team India batsmen are going to play four Test matches on their upcoming tour of West Indies.

The only Indian batsman who survived the one-hour batting challenge was Ajinkya Rahane.

On both the occasions he was caught behind the stumps.

Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Virat on both the occasions.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan also got out twice.

Shikhar Dhawan's opening partner Murali Vijay also lost his wicket twice during the one-hour challenge.

Murali Vijay was dismissed by Ishant Sharma.

Now, the question is whether this team will be able to perform well in West Indies. Certainly, the session has given Kumble a lot of worries before Team India embark on the tour.

The challenge for the batsmen was to bat for 1 hour without getting out.

The setting was kept as close to the Test cricket as possible. Fielding was set and a scoreboard was also installed.

All the players were asked to appear in Test whites, not the usual coloured practice kits.

But, to Kumble's dismay, all the batsmen got out without finishing the challenge.

Captain Virat Kohli got out twice during the one hour.

The challenge for the bowlers was to get as many wickets as possible.

A day after organising a yoga session for the players, Kumble took the Indian cricket team to Alur -- 40 kilometres away from Bangalore -- for a unique test.

Ever since Anil Kumble has taken over as Team India's coach, he has been proactive and innovative in his approach.
