Virat with three hundreds in the series equalled the record of most ODI 100s against the home side in South Africa. He equalled the record of Kevin Pietersen (3) all in Feb 2005

With his 35th ton Virat also entered the club of top five batsmen with most 100s in international cricket. Virat is now at 5th spot with 56 tons

Master blaster Sachin Tendulakar tops the list with 100 international hundreds followed by Australia’s greatest captain Ricky Ponting (71), Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara (63) and one of the greatest all-rounders of all time Jacques Kallis (62).

In context of bilateral series, the Indian skipper too broke several records. Virat became the first batsman to score 500 runs in a bilateral series. Kohli surpassed his compatriot Rohit Sharma's tally of 491 runs
