New Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG Roadster Launched — Check Images

Mercedes-Benz has added another roadster to its portfolio with the new SL 55 AMG which comes in as a CBU or as imported to India.

Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar launched the car along with director Zoya Akhtar. The SL 55 AMG is a 2+2 roadster which now comes with a soft-top roof and that is different since the earlier generation models used to come with a hard top roof.

The SL 55 AMG comes with a AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine which develops 469hp while the gearbox is a 9-speed one. The soft top roof takes only 15 seconds to close and you can also do so while driving at up to speeds of 60kmph.

The soft top operated using the switch panel in the center console while also there on the touchscreen This new generation SL model also gets for the first time in its history-all wheel drive. Yes, the new SL comes with AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive technology as standard.

Another highlight is the active rear-axle steering which comes as standard. Depending on the speed, the rear wheels go either in the opposite direction (up to 100 km/h) or in the same direction (faster than 100 km/h) as the front wheels.

The SL moniker stands for "Super" and "Light" while getting details like a long wheelbase, short overhangs and steeply raked windscreen.

This is the second convertible that is offered within the Mercedes-Benz India portfolio after the E53 AMG cabriolet along with the fact that Mercedes-Benz has one of the biggest product portfolios within the sports car segment The SL55 is priced at Rs 2.35 cr.
