MG Gloster Black Storm Review: Big SUV Gets Styling Updates. IN PICS

Black is the latest trend amongst carmakers and it is suddenly back into the minds of the buyers- especially with big SUVs. The Blackstorm though looks better than the standard Gloster due to the all-black grille plus even on the headlamp housing, roof rails and all black alloys. However, there are contrast red bits with the red accents on the front bumper, wing mirrors and within the headlamps while there are also red brake callipers with the alloys. However, the black treatment moves to the rear with the Gloster badging being in all black plus part lettering of the AWD badge while a bit of red is splashed here with the rear bumper also getting the same red element added like on the front. Inside, the sense of quality is there with soft touch materials all round and the massive touch screen houses all of the usual features as seen on the standard Gloster. New to the Blackstorm is the all-black look with the seats getting white stitching while the steering gets red stitching. (Image: Somnath Chatterjee)

This looks more premium over the beige coloured upholstery on the standard Gloster. Compared to other SUVs at this price point, the Gloster comes equipped with more features like dual powered seats while the drivers seat has ventilation plus even massage! (Image: Somnath Chatterjee)

Of course there is ADAS on offer as well. The engine remains the same with the Gloster Blackstorm getting a 2.0-litre, twin-turbo-diesel engine with 218bhp along with an 8-speed automatic plus 4WD with a BorgWarner transfer case. (Image: Somnath Chatterjee)

Driving dynamics remain the same with the light steering making it easy to drive despite the huge dimensions while refinement is very good along with an excellent suspension set-up. The gearbox is slightly slow but the Gloster is more of an effortless cruiser anyways. (Image: Somnath Chatterjee)

The Gloster Blackstorm remains a luxury SUV offering massive road presence, huge space and a refined powertrain while the Blackstorm adds a touch of aggression to the recipe too. Sure, it is pricier than the standard Gloster but we think this looks better. (Image: Somnath Chatterjee)
