Neena Gupta shared in her autobiography that she had to meet the producer at a hotel. According to a report of Times Of India, the actress decided to meet the producer after one of her performance in Prithvi theatre. When she called the producer from the phone lobby, he asked Neena to go up to his room. Gupta told, “My basic instinct told me to not go upstairs. That I should ask him to come down to the lobby instead.”

The report further added that afraid of losing an opportunity, Neena decided to give it a go and went to meet the producer upstairs. She remembers how the producer asked her to sit on the couch and started talking about how he launched several heroines in the South film industry.
