Sunjay Kapur, the industrialist and former husband of actor Karisma Kapoor, passed away in London on June 12 after suffering a heart attack during a polo match. His funeral is scheduled to be held today, June 20, at 5 PM at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi.

His family confirmed the funeral arrangements through an official press note, also announcing a prayer meeting to be held on June 22 between 4 and 5 PM at the Taj Palace Hotel, Delhi. The message was signed by his mother, Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife Priya, and their children, including Samaira and Kiaan, his children with Karisma Kapoor.

Sunjay Kapur’s last rites delayed 

According to NDTV, the funeral faced delays due to Sunjay Kapur’s U.S. citizenship. His father-in-law shared that legal procedures and post-mortem formalities in London were ongoing. “The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites,” he told the outlet.

Reports speculated on the exact cause of death, with initial claims pointing to a heart attack. Later, unverified sources suggested it may have been triggered by a bee sting during the polo game. An official statement is still awaited.
