'Class of 83': Five Reasons Why You Should Watch Bobby Deol's Film On Netflix
Bobby Deol has played the role of a cop, who is shunted to a punishment posting as the Dean of a police academy in Nashik in the film 'Class of 83'.
New Delhi: Bobby Deol’s ‘Class of 83’ has been making waves ever since the trailer was unveiled earlier this month. The film, which is based on S. Hussain Zaidi's book- ‘The Class of 83: The Punishers Of Mumbai Police’, premiered on Netflix on Friday (August 21). The crime drama, directed by Atul Sabharwal, has been produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. This is Netflix’s third collaboration with Red Chillies after ‘Bard of Blood’ and Betaal’. The two web series didn’t receive a great response from the audience.
‘Class of 83’ is about a policeman Vijay Singh, who is shunted to a punishment posting at a police academy. How he grooms five youngsters and trains them to tackle the Mumbai underworld and corrupt politicians and their allies forms the crux of the story.

Thinking of watching ‘Class of 83'? Here are five reasons why you should do so.
Storyline: While watching the trailer, several people might think that ‘Class of 83’ is the same typical police vs gangster drama, which has been dished out in several Bollywood films. How an honest police officer uses his ‘punishment’ to destroy the roots of the decaying police system makes for an interesting watch. While Bollywood has given us Singham and Chulbul Pandey over the last few years, it’s time to welcome a no nonsense police officer. Director Atul Sabharwal has done a good job when it comes to showcasing the era of 80s in Mumbai, when organized crime in the city was considered to be at its peak. Vijay Singh is caught between his duties as a police officer and his responsibilities as a family man.
Acting: Bobby Deol, who has made his digital debut with ‘Class of 83’, manages to deliver a neat performance as Dean Vijay Singh. He plays the role of a policeman, who mentors five cadets and trains to them to take on the Mumbai Police brass, politicians and the underworld. Bobby, who has successfully completed 25 years in the industry, did a good job in both emotional and tense scenes. Bobby has featured in several multi-starrer films in the last few years. It is refreshing to see him play the main lead after a long time.
Supporting star cast: No matter how strong the script, if the main lead and supporting actors fail to deliver, then a film turns out to be a dud.
At a time when the debates on nepotism have created a stir on social media, Shah Rukh Khan’s production house has launched five newcomers in ‘Class of 83’. Hitesh Bhojraj, Sameer Paranjape, Ninad Mahajani, Prithvik Pratap and Bhupendra Jadawat have done quite a good job as fearless cadets.
Dialogues: The movie has some interesting dialogues about crime which will definitely catch your attention. Check some of them right here!
‘Crime and criminals bin bulaye baraati ki tarah hote hai’ (Crime and criminals are like uninvited wedding guests)
‘Jaha barood na chale, waha dimak ki tarah kam karna padta hai (when gunpowder doesn’t work, you have to act like a termite)
Inspired by true events: The hard-hitting crime drama is said to be inspired by real-life events. If you are looking forward to watching a crime thriller, then ‘Class of 83’ should be on your bucket list. The movie tells the story of bravery of Mumbai Police officers.
‘Class of 83’ is available for streaming on Netflix.
