Ram Gopal Varma Shares Shiamak Davar Spoke With His Dead Father On A Flight: 'I Was Completely Taken Aback'

Ram Gopal Varma shared that Shiamak had claimed to see the spirit of RGV’s father, who had passed away 15 days earlier.

New Delhi: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his supernatural hits, remains an atheist and skeptical about the paranormal. However, one incident almost changed his mind. In a recent interview uploaded to his YouTube channel, RGV recounted a conversation with choreographer Shiamak Davar on a flight that left him “disturbed.”

What Ram Gopal Varma shared

Ram Gopal Varma shared that Shiamak had claimed to see the spirit of RGV’s father, who had passed away 15 days earlier. This encounter was particularly unsettling for Varma, as he had only met Shiamak once before, at Amitabh Bachchan’s house, and did not know him well.

While on the flight, Varma noticed that Shiamak was seated behind him. He decided to move and sit beside him, and they began chatting. “The plane took off, and then, in daylight, mid-air, he suddenly asked me, ‘Your father passed away?’ It was an unusual question to ask, but it was true,” Varma recounted, as quoted by The Indian Express.

RGV continued, “Fifteen days before this encounter, my father had passed away. So I told him yes. Now, he was on the window seat, and I was in the aisle. He then looked at me for a while, and said, ‘He is here with us.’ I was completely taken aback! And he is a choreographer; I expect such questions from a guy who does some weird…” he said.

Varma told Shiamak that he didn’t believe in such things. But Shiamak responded, “He says he also never believed in it and is very concerned about you.” This left Varma perplexed. How did Shiamak know his father had died? That his father was an atheist? Varma felt a mix of emotions—helplessness, anger, fear—and was very disturbed by the conversation. He suddenly got up and went back to his seat, thinking, “How can he know?”

RGV considered all possible explanations but couldn’t find any. “Now, there are possibilities. Either his father is dead or not, atheist or not, so the odds are not so great that you can’t luck on it. I also thought since both of us are from the film industry, he might have overheard this and is playing googly!” he concluded.
