Remember Papa Kehte Hai Actor Mayuri Kango? She Is Now Google India’s Industry Head

Mayuri Kango is an actor seen in several 90s flicks such as 'Papa Kehte Hai', 'Badal', 'Jeet', and TV in serials like 'Dollar Bahu' and Karishma, where she played the role of Karisma Kapoor's daughter.

New Delhi: Mayuri Kango is a former actor seen in several 90s flicks such as 'Papa Kehte Hai', 'Badal', 'Jeet', and TV in serials like 'Dollar Bahu' and Karishma, where she played the role of Karisma Kapoor's daughter.While the actor may not be actively working in the showbiz anywhere, Kango now works at Google India.

Mayuri Kango ventured into films accidentally

Not many know that Mayuri never wanted to be an actor. Born to a theatre artist mother and a politician father, Mayuri is the only child of her parents.  Once in Mumbai, to meet her mother who was shooting for a film, Mayuri Kango received an offer from director Saeed Akhtar Mirza in an accidental meeting.  Mayuri always wanted to become a chief officer in a big firm and did well academically. However, this chance encounter with Mirza opened the world of showbiz for her and her dream of getting into the corporate world took a backseat.

Meanwhile, Mayuri had called Mirza's film a life-changing experience. 'Naseem' also gave her the opportunity to work with Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi. 

Papa Kehte Hai and later films

It is said that after watching 'Naseem', filmaker Mahesh Bhatt signed Mayuri for his next film 'Papa Kehte Hai'. Mayuri was seen alongside Jugal Hansraj in this Bhatt directorial. After the success of 'Papa Kehte Hai', Mayuri decided to focus all her energies on her film career and eve received numerous offers. 

Mayuri was also seen in 'Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet', 'Badal', and 'Betaabi'.

She almost signed some 10-15 films, many of which did not work out. Soon after many films shut down, Mayuri was labelled 'unlucky' and Mayuri was barely seen in leads later on.

Mayuri Kango then tried her hands in the Southern film industry, where seh worked withe the likes of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu.

Mayuri also worked in Television for some time when things did not pan out so well in the film industries in the South. Post her TV stint, in 2003, she decided to quit showbiz for good married an NRI businessman Aditya Dhillon and shifted to the USA with him. 

Mayuri Kango then went on to complete her MBA. She later worked at several big corporates and now workd as India's industry head at Google.
