Daniel Radcliffe And Other ‘Harry Potter’ Cast Pay Tribute To Dumbledore Actor Michael Gambon

Several 'Harry Potter' actors, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and others paid their heartfelt tributes to Michael Gambon.

New Delhi: Michael Gambon, the British actor best remembered for playing Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films, died on Thursday at the age of 82 after suffering from pneumonia. The actor had stepped into the part with ease for the third film in the series. The news has saddened actors and fans of Harry Potter films. Now, the cast and crew of Harry Potter are paying their respects to late actor Gambon on social media.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, responded to the news of Michael Gambon's passing. Daniel stated in a statement to Variety that Michael Gambon was "one of the most brilliant, effortless actors". He said, “With the loss of Michael Gambon the world just became considerably less fun.”

The actor added, "The thing I will remember most about him is how much fun he had doing his job. He was silly, irreverent and hilarious. He loved his job, but never seemed defined by it. He was an incredible story and joke teller and his habit of blurring the lines of fact and fiction when talking to journalists meant that he was also one of the most entertaining people with whom you could ever wish to do a press junket."

Emma Watson, who portrayed Hermione Granger in the film series, remembered Michael Gambon on her Instagram story.

Bonnie Wright was a big fan of Michael Gambon. On Instagram, she posted a picture of him saying she was "in awe of his presence and performance" and that his voice would always be heard in the Great Hall. 

In an Instagram post, Ron Weasley actor Rupert Grint expressed his sadness at Michael's passing. 

Taking to X, the author of the popular fantasy series, JK Rowling, expressed her sorrow at the passing of Michael Gambon, whom she had first met in 1982. She went on to describe her fond memories of working with the actor.

Michael Gambon's lengthy acting career earned him several accolades, including two SAG Awards and four British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs). People will always remember him best as the second actor to portray Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series.
