Toyota Innova Crysta To Return As An Electric MPV?

The electric version, for now, is a concept study but hints at the future where an Innova Crysta hybrid can co-exist with the current hybrid Innova Hycross too.

New Delhi: With the focus being on the Innova Hycross which was unveiled recently, the current Innova Crysta will continue to be on sale in India and will even soon return in its diesel avatar. However, in the future the current Crysta can also see an electric avatar as recently the electric concept version was also shown regarding which we have already talked about.

The electric version, for now, is a concept study but hints at the future where an Innova Crysta hybrid can co-exist with the current hybrid Innova Hycross too.

The Innova Crysta EV, while deemed as a concept was spied recently to be on test on roads which also shows that it could be way more than just being a concept study. The current Innova Crysta is soldering on with a petrol engine for the time being to attract its core audience, the diesel version will be coming back early next year.

The EV is an interesting prospect and plugs in an important gap for an electric MPV in which currently the BYD e6 sits. The Innova Crysta EV sports some important visual upgrades to distinguish itself and gets EV-specific bits including a new paint scheme and a blanked-off the grille.

An EV Innova Crysta is an interesting prospect and will also most likely appeal to fleet buyers as well. In India, the Innova Hycross was recently unveiled and has a hybrid powertrain along with a 2.0l petrol engine while being a big change over the earlier Innova in terms of an all-new platform plus a more premium cabin.

The Innova Hycross will officially have its price reveal soon and will also go on sale soon with bookings being underway. With the Hycross being the focus of the range, it remains to be seen how Toyota maintains the current Crysta in the line-up.
