Pictorial Review: Tata Curvv SUV Comes Up With Coupe Concept In EV Segment. Check Range, Expected Price

Tata Curvv: Tata Motors clearly wants to dominate the EV space and bridging the gap above Nexon and below Harrier is the best way to do that.

Tata Curvv: We spent some time with the Tata Curvv concept to see how the next car from Tata Motors will shape up the company's electric vehicles (EV) plans. Tata Motors clearly wants to dominate the EV space and bridging the gap above Nexon and below Harrier is the best way to do that. The Curvv concept will make its debut in India in 2024 and the production version is said to be nearly similar to the concept seen here. We have seen how the Harrier maintained its concept like looks and the same would be expected from the Curvv.

Tata Curvv: Concept Version Vs Product Version

The Curvv is a concept name and the production version will most probably have a different name. However, the unique-coupe SUV like style will remain. The coupe-SUV segment is not existing at this price point and the Curvv has a different look with the way the rear styling is designed.

Tata Curvv: Design

Unlike usual SUVs like Harrier or Nexon, roofline of the Curvv falls sharply and gets a notchback like rear which makes the design more attractive. Some of the details seen with the Curvv concept also shows the future design language of Tata Motors EVs like the full length LED lights at the front and the simple grille design along with the minimal lines.

The flush door handles and some of the design details are expected to make it to the production version too. The front in fact borrows from the Sierra concept in terms of face and it is also much bigger than Nexon but a bit smaller than Harrier. The concept has 20 inch wheels and cladding while the production version could have 18 inch wheels- still much bigger than Nexon wheels. The attractive rear also has a full LED light bar as well which again makes the car look broad. No doubt the Curvv concept is a good looking car.

Tata Curvv: Interiors

Same story is on the inside as the cabin looks simple with not a lot going on. There are two screens with central touchscreen having all of the controls. There are some buttons but there are a few and there is a round gear selector while drive/regenerative modes would also be expected to make way to the production version.

The new two-spoke steering wheel is also unique and would be seen as a signature design for future EVs from Tata. The upholstery is also different with a cloth design while the dashboard is finished nicely with a triple layer effect. Quality and design has also seen a big jump. The concept seemed like a four seater with a full length panoramic sunroof while the production version would be having a bench seat most probably. Despite low roof, the Curvv seemed to have decent headroom and good legroom.

The main highlight of the Curvv concept is the showing of the new GEN 2 EV architecture which is more flexible and an evolution of the platform seen with the current cars. The new platform means ability to have EVs, petrol and diesels with the platform while also making cars more spacious. That means fast charging capability plus vehicle to vehicle charging.

Tata Curvv: Specifications

Specifications have not been revealed but expect a much larger battery pack than the Nexon EV and more range at around 400-500km. That said, there would be petrol and diesel versions coming as well post the launch of the EV version.

The Curvv overall gives Tata Motors a contender for the competitive Creta/Seltos segment while the EV version is a big boost. However, two years is a long wait and by that time even Hyundai and MG along with others will have their own EV compact SUVs too. Good time ahead for the Indian car buyer then!
