BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW R 18 Transcontinental as a CBU in India. With this, the range now includes the R 18, The R 18 Classic and The R 18 Transcontinental.

As you can see, it is huge and looks like a proper cruiser as well with loads of presence

The bike has a large handlebar-mounted fairing with windshield, wind deflectors, a pillion seat, cases finished in body colour and light alloy cast wheels.

Some other design elements include a double cradle frame, the teardrop tank, the exposed gloss nickel-plated driveshaft and the paintwork with double pinstripes.

Elsewhere, it uses four analogue circular instruments and a 10.25-inch TFT colour display plus LED lighting.

Touring abilities are further boosted by the fact that it has a Marshall Gold Series Stage 2 sound system; the R 18 Transcontinental consists of six loudspeakers and a booster.

For long-distance touring, the bike gets a handlebar–seat and the ‘mid-mounted foot peg’ position.

The R 18 Transcontinental engine is an air/oil-cooled two-cylinder flat twin engine with a massive 1,802 cc engine resulting from a 107.1 mm bore and 100 mm stroke. It produces an output of 91 hp at 4,750 rpm.

The maximum torque of 158 Nm is already available at 3,000 rpm, with more than 150 Nm always available from 2,000 – 4,000 rpm.

It uses a 6-speed gearbox with reverse gear as an optional extra.

BMW R 18 Transcontinental Classic has three standard riding modes – ‘Rain’, ‘Roll’ and ‘Rock’ which change the characteristics of the bike as per the rider's preferences

The bike is priced at Rs 31.5 lakh and it is one of the most expensive luxury cruiser motorcycles with its looks, performance and features making it stand out.
