BIG UPDATE: Jharkhand Students Face Water Cannon, Refuse to Back Down
The student protest in Jharkhand intensified as police used water cannons to stop protesters from moving toward the Assembly. Despite the action, students remained determined and said they would continue their agitation until their demands were accepted. Their key demands include cancellation of the JSSC CGL and other examinations conducted by TDPL, along with a CBI investigation into the alleged examination irregularities. Students alleged that examination seats were sold for large sums of money and demanded strict action against those accused of irregularities, including Abhay Tiwari. They said that water cannons, tear gas, barbed-wire barricades and police deployment would not weaken their resolve. At the same time, protesters repeatedly emphasized that their demonstration was peaceful and urged the police to cooperate. Some students even used humor and sarcasm while reacting to the water cannon, thanking the administration for providing relief from the heat. The protesters vowed to remain at the site until the government addresses their demands, saying the movement would continue if no concrete decision was taken.
