Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650: Relaxed Performance, Dynamic Polish, Know Real-Life Review — IN PICS

The big new cruiser from Royal Enfield has been much talked about but we wanted to go beyond the usual road test route and actually live with one of the most important RE models.

 It is a real-world test to see how good the Super Meteor 650 is to live with in terms of its ergonomics or even performance. For starters, this is a laid-back cruiser that looks fantastic and is also quite big. The bike is big and fitted with all of the traditional RE styling elements including the handlebar design to the tear-drop-shaped fuel tank. We also like the alloy wheel design while it is also the first RE to get a LED headlamp set-up. However, while the bike looks fantastic, the instrument cluster could have looked more premium. That said, it comes with Tripper navigation as standard too.

Riding this bike does mean getting onboard a big heavy cruiser with plenty of weight. Using this bike for everyday use is very much possible but needs some getting used to, especially the weight and the sheer size. The bike is surely not as easy to ride as the smaller-engined REs with its length meaning you need to be a bit careful in traffic.

The 648cc engine though felt up to the task and remains well suited to the cruiser vibe of the bike. It is relaxed and makes riding easy in traffic as well. There is plenty of performance served up and also a strong mid-range. It is a linear, smooth motor and compared to other siblings, this powertrain is surely the best by RE.

In the city, the low ground clearance becomes a bit of an issue on the biggest of the speed breakers but overall you won't have much to complain about. Out on the highway, the motor frees up, and the bike cruises very well too. Compared to the Interceptor, the performance is slightly at a more relaxed pace though the gearing feels different while the weight also comes into focus. That said, the overall polish of the riding experience is commendable and it is surely one of our favourite REs.

In terms of efficiency, expect around 27 kmpl which is decent.

The Super Meteor 650 offers relaxed performance, a dynamic polish, and comfort along with a distinct cruiser style riding style which we like.
