To make this fraud seem believable, the scamster told Patel to get to Lucknow Police Station within 12 hours or register his statement on a WhatsApp video call.
The episodes of scams and frauds have been increasing recently and especially one in particular i.e., digital arrest is becoming more and more common these days. An X user encountered a digital arrest attempt but, he was clever and he escaped it. The episode started with a user named Vijay Patel getting a call from an unknown number informing him that his mobile numbers would be blocked in the next four hours as they were being used for harassment and financial fraud.
To make this fraud seem believable, the scamster told Patel to get to Lucknow Police Station within 12 hours or register his statement on a WhatsApp video call. Like any usual person, he chose the second option as he knew about this fraud and wished to record it.
Scam Unfolds
The video call kicked off with a WhatsApp video call in which the scammer was dressed in a police uniform and it seemed like he was sitting in a police station. Now at such a moment, anyone would think that this is real and not a scam but Patel knew about these tricks already. Watch how it begins here:

The scamster asked the man to show a 360-degree view of the room he was sitting in to ensure that he was alone. This was asked primarily to ensure that there would be no one else to save him. In the next step, the scamster inquired about Patel's Aadhar Card and started to lecture him about how it should be used to prevent it from being used illegally.
Patel tweeted, "He politely gave instructions on guidelines for using an Aadhar Card and Meanwhile, they printed a document in the name of the Supreme Court and TRI to give it a more real look!"
He then wrote, "Here is the fake letter in which they used my name and Aadhar card number, which they asked me for at the beginning of this call, but they still made a spelling mistake!"
