Meta-owned WhatsApp is working to bring a new feature that would allow its users to create stickers from images. According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the upcoming feature is now available in the latest WhatsApp beta version 23.10.7.4 for iOS on the Test Flight app.

"What’s new in this update? WhatsApp is working on another feature to create stickers right within the app, and it will be available in a future update!," WABetaInfo wrote on its page.

According to WhatsApp for iOS 23.3.77 update, a new feature became available to some users, which is a new sticker maker tool that lets users quickly create stickers from their images.

"This feature uses iOS 16 APIs to extract a subject right out of an image and then, it is automatically converted into a sticker in the app. A lot of users appreciated this feature and, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.10.0.74 update available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a better implementation for this feature," WABetInfo added.

As shown in the screen grab above, the "New Sticker" option will be available within the chat share action sheet. According to WABetaInfo, the feature will allow people to choose images from their photo library and offer tools for editing, including the ability to remove the background.

Meta-owned WhatsApp has been introducing a range of interesting and safety features with the recent one being the Chat Lock feature. In a bid to protect private conversations, WhatsApp, the world's most popular messaging platform introduced what it calls "Chat Lock" feature for its users last week. WhatsApp Chat Lock feature is here to add "another layer" of security to the conversations on the messaging platform.

WhatsApp parent Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the WhatsApp Chat Lock feature and the feature will let users protect their intimate conversations with a password and secures them in a separate folder. When someone messages them and they have that chat locked, the sender’s name and the content of the message will also be hidden, as part of the new feature.
