THIS App Might Be The Next TikTok In US, 700K New Users Have Joined Within 2 Days

RedNote, a venture capital-backed startup currently valued at $17 billion, has gained significant traction as a platform where users can share curated photos, videos, and text about their lives.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the US over the possibility whether TikTok will be banned or not. Due to this, TikTok users have been urging their followers to shift to other platforms. An app called RedNote has been gaining a lot from this situation, though it seems.

More than half a million TikTok users have joined the Chinese social media app RedNote recently, as reported by the Guardian.

Surge In RedNote Users

RedNote, a venture capital-backed startup currently valued at $17 billion, has gained significant traction as a platform where users can share curated photos, videos, and text about their lives. Often regarded as a potential IPO candidate in China, RedNote has evolved into a go-to search engine for its over 300 million users seeking travel advice, skincare products, and dining recommendations, the Guardian reported.

In just two days, the platform reportedly gained over 700,000 new users, according to a source close to the company. As per the Guardian report, in the US, RedNote's downloads surged by more than 200 per cent compared to the same period last year and grew 194 per cent week-over-week, as estimated by app data research firm Sensor Tower.

RedNote is eager to capitalise on its recent surge in attention, with executives envisioning it as a pathway to achieving global prominence akin to TikTok's success. The sudden interest has even boosted the stock prices of China-listed companies associated with RedNote, such as Hangzhou Onechance Tech Corp, which saw a 20 per cent increase on Tuesday, hitting the daily trading limit.

This rise in US users comes ahead of the January 19 deadline for ByteDance to either sell TikTok or face a US ban over national security concerns. TikTok currently boasts approximately 170 million American users, representing nearly half the population, and remains a dominant platform among young audiences and advertisers targeting this demographic.
