Twitter Testing 'Flock' That Will Make Tweet Visible To 150 Select Users, Much Like Instagram Close Friends

Twitter's upcoming Flock feature will let users share their tweets with their "Flock" of up to 150 select users.

New Delhi: In a bid to take on Instagram's popular Close Friends feature that lets users share their statuses with a limited set of people they choose, the micro-blogging site is working on a similar feature called Flock. Twitter's upcoming Flock feature will let users share their tweets with their "Flock" of up to 150 select users, the media has reported. Initially teased by the micro-blogging site in July 2021, the feature was then called "Trusted Friends".

Discovered by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, discovered the code in the app, thus, confirming that the Flock feature is very much still in the development pipeline. At the time the feature was known as “Trusted Friends,” but the name has since shifted to “Flock,” according to code found by Paluzzi, said a report published in Input Mag.

Moreover, only these users can view or reply to tweets sent out to your Flock. In case, you decide you do not want someone in your Flock anymore, Twitter notes you can remove people from your list at any time, and they won't get a notification. If you are in someone's Flock and they send out a tweet, according to Paluzzi, a label may appear beneath that tweet. To send a tweet to your Flock, it looks like Twitter will display an audience option before you send it out, letting you choose between all of Twitter and your selected users.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Twitter joined the bandwagon of companies copying TikTok's reaction videos, and announced that it was testing a similar feature for iOS devices called “quote tweet with reaction”. This feature would let users post customised reaction videos for tweets with a “quote tweet with reaction” option while retweeting. The new feature, however, is quite similar to ByteDance-owned TikTok’s video replies feature. It is also like Meta-owned Instagram’s newly-announced feature that lets users to reply to comments on their posts with Instagram Reels.
