'Working To Get This Fixed': Twitter Says As Users Unable To Tweet, Access DMs & Tweetdeck

Twitter Users reported receiving a notification from Twitter that they were over the 2,400-tweet-per-day limit, others said they were unable to access DMs and Tweetdeck.

New Delhi: Twitter users were unable to tweet on Wednesday as they received a message saying: "You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets." Outage-tracking website DownDetector informed about the glitch at just before 22:00 GMT.

This comes as experts said that deep cuts in Twitter staff could cause technical issues. However, it is unclear if the reduced staff was to blame for Wednesday's outage.

Elon Musk has slashed Twitter's workforce he acquired the platform last October for $44bn (£36.5bn). The Tesla and SpaceX CEO said last month that Twitter had about 2,300 employees - down from around 8,000 when he took over.

It appears that the outage was being fixed as many users said they were able to tweet.

Users reported receiving a notification from Twitter that they were over the 2,400-tweet-per-day limit, even if they had not posted on Wednesday.

Others said they had problems with Twitter messages. Several users continue to have report issue accessing TweetDeck - a dashboard that can be used with Twitter.

How many people have been affected is yet to be revealed.

"Twitter may not be working as expected for some of you. Sorry for the trouble. We're aware and working to get this fixed," Twitter Support stated.

Tech news website The Information reported that Elon Musk told Twitter employees to pause new feature development "in favour of maximising system stability and robustness, especially with the Super Bowl coming up".
