Twitter New Feature: Know About Twitter's Downvote Feature, How Will You Benefit From It?
Twitter Downvote Button: Twitter says it will help the platform identify relevant comments better and make them more visible.
Twitter Downvote Feature: Twitter introduced a new downvote reply feature on the platform last year. Now, this feature of the app is going to be global.
That means users everywhere will be able to downvote replies on tweets with the new feature. This feature is also limited to Twitter web users. iOS and Android users will get the feature later.
Twitter says that the downvotes on the reply will remain hidden and, therefore, will not be visible publicly. Instead, they will help the platform better recognize the more relevant comments and make them more visible. However, the upvotes on reply will appear publicly as likes.
Twitter announced the feature, saying, "Some of you on iOS may see different options to vote up or down on reply" and added that "The platform is testing this to understand the types of replies you find relevant."
Twitter also said in a tweet that most users clicked on the down arrow because the reply was either objectionable, irrelevant, or both. Twitter said: "This experiment has also shown that downvoting is the most commonly used way for people to mark content they don't want to see."
According to a report, Twitter is also reportedly working on a new feature called Articles, which will allow users to write long posts, with no limit of 280 words that is usually imposed on tweets.
This may be more convenient for users who want to post something longer, who will no longer need to chain multiple tweets in one thread.
