Telegram Releases New Update: Here Is What It Will Bring To Your Devices

Telegram has announced that users can now turn received gifts into collectibles, which can then be sold at auction on NFT marketplaces or can be transferred to others.

Telegram has rolled out its first update of 2025, introducing a variety of new features and enhancements for users. One of the highlights is the ability to transform received gifts into collectibles, each with unique characteristics that can be shared, sold on NFT marketplaces, or transferred to others. Additional updates include the use of emojis in folder names, reactions to service messages, an in-app QR code scanner, and advanced search filters for locating messages more efficiently.

The company explained that its 17th major update of 2024 missed the deadline due to delays attributed to a lack of attention from Apple’s review team.

Telegram New Update: What Does It Bring?

With this new update, Telegram users can now convert gifts into collectibles featuring exclusive designs crafted by Telegram artists. Each collectible is made unique by secondary features such as background color, icon, and a distinct number, making some more rare than others.

The update also introduces emoji reactions to service messages, such as notifications about gift exchanges or new group members. Enhanced search filters further improve the user experience by allowing more precise message searches within private chats, groups, and channels.

To enhance transparency, Telegram now allows official third-party providers to add additional verification icons to user accounts and chats. When a user is verified by a third-party provider, a small logo will appear next to their name. However, the company emphasizes that these third-party verification marks are entirely separate from the verified checkmarks that Telegram itself provides to notable individuals and organizations.

Another new feature is the integration of QR code scanning directly into Telegram’s in-app camera for both iOS and Android. This allows users to open links in their preferred browser without needing to switch between apps. Additionally, Premium users can now customize their folders further by incorporating unique emojis, adding a more personalized and expressive touch to their organization.
