Looking Forward To Helping India Realize Digital Vision: Microsoft CEO After Meeting With PM Modi

Nadella said that India’s push towards “sustainable and inclusive economic growth” was inspiring.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and went on to share his appreciation for the Centre’s focus on sustainable economic growth aided by digital transformation. Nadella in October last year was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the country.

“We’re looking forward to helping India realize the Digital India vision and be a light for the world,” Nadella tweeted after the meet. He said that the meeting was “insightful” and that India’s push towards “sustainable and inclusive economic growth” was inspiring.

India is doubling down on digital transformation as it is promoting its vision for digital economy during its G20 presidency.

On January 2, Prime Minister Modi shared a tweet that talked about the boom in Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions seen in December.

“I like how you’ve brought out the rising popularity of UPI. I laud my fellow Indians for embracing digital payments! They’ve shown remarkable adaptability to tech and innovation,” he tweeted.

The shared tweet claimed that UPI saw the highest ever transaction in December 2022, with 782 crore transaction worth Rs 12.8 lakh crores. This led to a total transaction of Rs 125 lakh crores via 7,404 crore transactions in the 2022 calendar year.
