iPhone 18 Set For Memory Revolution, iPhone 17 Tipped to Get 12GB RAM Across All Models

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max is expected to be powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro chipset, built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process.

Apple’s next wave of iPhones is shaping up to be all about speed and memory, and not just in incremental steps. If the latest leaks hold true, the iPhone 18 lineup will mark a significant leap forward in memory technology, while the soon-to-launch iPhone 17 series is expected to standardise a generous 12GB of RAM across all models.

iPhone 17 Lineup: Uniform RAM, Pro-Level Performance

Popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that all four upcoming iPhone 17 models — including the iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max — will be equipped with 12GB of RAM. This would be a first for Apple, which has previously kept RAM upgrades exclusive to its Pro-tier devices.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will also be powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro chipset, built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process. The upgraded chip is tipped to deliver major performance gains over the A18 Pro, providing faster speeds and better efficiency.

MacBook Blue, Redesigned Back & Triple-Camera Boost for Pro Models

A major aesthetic change is also reportedly on the cards. The iPhone 17 Pro could arrive in a new colour — MacBook Blue — previously reserved for Apple’s laptops. This fresh hue is likely to give the device a distinctive edge over its predecessors.

Beyond colour, the rear of the Pro variant is set for a redesign. The new layout will feature a split finish, with aluminium on the top half to house a noticeably larger camera module. The upgraded camera system will reportedly include a 48MP ultra-wide lens, a 48MP 5x tetra prism telephoto lens, a LiDAR scanner, and a 24MP front-facing camera — a package built for photography enthusiasts and content creators alike.

iPhone 18: LPDDR5X Memory to Supercharge Future Models

While the iPhone 17’s upgrades are substantial, Apple seems to be preparing an even more dramatic shift with the iPhone 18 series. The future models are rumored to incorporate six-channel LPDDR5X memory — a first for the iPhone lineup. This will significantly boost bandwidth and overall memory performance, particularly for pro users and multitaskers.

Faster memory means better responsiveness, improved gaming performance, and smoother workflows, setting the stage for Apple’s next-generation iPhones to compete more aggressively with high-end Android flagships.

Charging, Connectivity, and iOS 19 in Tow

The iPhone 17 Pro is also expected to support 35W fast charging, reducing downtime and making it more convenient for power users. Connectivity is getting a boost too, thanks to Apple’s in-house Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modems.

On the software front, the entire iPhone 17 series will ship with iOS 19, which is set to be unveiled at WWDC 2025. The upcoming operating system is expected to introduce new features that are deeply integrated with the upgraded hardware.

With major memory upgrades across current and future iPhones, Apple is clearly focusing on speed, multitasking, and high-end performance — signalling a bold new chapter in its hardware evolution.
