Rain Lashes Delhi NCR, Brings Respite From Humid And Sultry Weather

New Delhi: The national capital Delhi and adjoining parts of Noida received light to moderate rain on Monday evening. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 35.2 degrees Celsius above normal and the minimum temperature was 26.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the humidity level in the air has been recorded from 53 to 72 percent.
Earlier, it was predicted that Delhi was expected to get light rain while the maximum temperature was expected to be 34 degrees Celsius. Light rain is also likely on Tuesday followed by isolated drizzle activity a day later.

Monsoon season in Delhi begins on June 1 and the Safdarjung observatory has recorded 344.5 mm of rain as against the normal 474.9 mm during this period. According to the forecast of the India Meteorological Department, Delhi will be generally cloudy for the next five to six days with very light rain. According to the IMD, there is no possibility of heavy rain in Delhi till the end of August.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi has been recorded at 108 in the 'moderate' category on Monday morning. At the same time, 133 in Noida, while 150 have been recorded in Gurugram. The AQI in Delhi-NCR this week is likely to remain mostly in the 'satisfactory to moderate category. The AQI is defined as 'good' between zero and 50, 'satisfactory' between 51 and 100, 'moderate' between 101 and 200, 'poor' between 201 and 300, 'very poor' between 301 and 400.' and between 401 and 500 are considered in the 'severe' range.
