Violence Reported In Amravati, Nanded, Malegaon During Protest March Condemning Tripura Violence
Three protest rallies were being carried out in these districts to condemn the reported violence against Muslims in Tripura.
New Delhi: Incidents of violence and stone pelting were reported in the Nanded, Malegaon and Amravati districts of Maharashtra during a protest march on Friday. Three protest rallies were being carried out in these districts to condemn the reported violence against Muslims in Tripura. It was alleged that protestors pelted stones on police and damaged some shops and vehicles. In order to disperse the crowd, the police said that they had to resort to lathi charge.
Following the incident, Dilip Walse Patil, Maharashtra’s Home Minister appealed to the people to maintain peace , reported ANI. “Muslims across the state had taken out a protest march today against the violence in Tripura. During this, stone pelting was done in Nanded, Malegaon, Amaravati and some other places. I appeal to all Hindus & Muslims to maintain peace,” the Home Minister said.

The Home Minister further said that the situation was under control and that he himself was monitoring the situation through senior police officials. Muslims across the state had taken out a protest march today against the violence in Tripura. During this, stone pelting was done in Nanded, Malegaon, Amaravati and some other places. I appeal to all Hindus & Muslims to maintain peace,” Patil said as reported by ANI.
As per reports, in the Amravati district, violence broke out at four places in the jurisdiction of Kotwali and Gadage Nagar police Station between 3 pm and 5 pm. Vikram Sali, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amravati said that complaints have been registered and strict action would be taken against people involved.
“Cases are being registered on the basis of five complaints. At present, it's peaceful here. No police permission was taken for this protest march. On the basis of complaints, we will take strict action against those involved,” said the DCP as reported by ANI.

Meanwhile the Muslim organisations that took out the march said that they will continue their agitation until action is taken against those involved in Tripura violence.
