Mob Attacks ED Team During Raids In Bengal's North 24 Parganas. BJP Says Democracy Failing In State

A team of the ED was allegedly attacked during a raid in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali.

A team of the Enforcement Directorate was allegedly attacked during a raid in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali on Friday. According to news agency PTI, a mob attacked vehicles of the ED and central forces during a raid being conducted on Shankar Adhya, close aide of jailed West Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick. Speaking on the attack Bharatiya Janata Party MP Jagannath Sarkar said that democracy is failing again and again in West Bengal that's the reason why the ED team was attacked.

"Democracy is failing again and again in West Bengal that's the reason why the ED team was attacked. The organisations working against the nation are getting powerful. Bombs, pistols etc are recovered every day but no proper action is being taken against them. Hence, it is important to remove the government and declare an emergency in the state. Once it's done everything will improve and nobody will dare to attack the ED team," Jagannath Sarkar said, as quoted by ANI.

The probe agency was carrying out raids in connection with the alleged ration scam in North 24 Parganas district's Sandeshkhali.

On the alleged attack on the probe agency, a member of the team said, "Eight people came to the spot. We three moved from the incident spot. When we came, they attacked us," as quoted by ANI.

On the alleged attack, West Bengal BJP Chief Sukanta Majumdar said that the attack on the probe agency shows what the Rohingya are doing to the law and order in the state. "There is a complaint & corruption charges against all of them. It is natural that ED will take action. It is quite obvious. The attack on ED in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali shows what the Rohingya are doing to the law & order in the state," as quoted by ANI.

Central Agencies Going To Residence Of TMC Leaders Or Workers To Harass People: TMC

Speaking on the attack, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh said that what happened in Sandeskhali was an effect of provocation. He further said that the central agencies and forces are going to the residence of one or the other TMC leader or workers on the instructions of the BJP to harass, spread negative statements and provoke people.

"What happened in Sandeskhali was an effect of provocation. In West Bengal, central agencies and forces on the instructions of the BJP are going to the residence of one or the other TMC leader or workers to harass, spread negative statements and provoke people. We are receiving such allegations and that's what happened in Sandeshkhali yesterday. BJP had called Suvendu Adhikari a thief but there was no raid in his residence, they only conduct a raid at TMC leaders' residence,” Kunal Ghosh said, as quoted by ANI.
