Tennis Star Kei Nishikori Tests Positive For COVID-19, Pulls Out From US Open

The Tennis Star withdrew himself from the Western and Southern Open after testing positive for Coronavirus on Sunday

World No. 4 Kei Nishikori of Japan has been pulled out of the US Open and two other ATP tournaments after he tested positive for COVID. The Japanese tennis star has gone into self-isolation and reassured fans that he is only feeling mild symptoms and will be back soon. "This morning while still in Florida, I got tested for COVID-19 and tested positive. I will have to pull out of the Cincinnati tournament at this time. We were planning to fly to New York tomorrow but will obviously now stay in Florida." Based in Florida, Nishikori had planned to fly to New York on Monday for the Western and Southern Open, an event usually played in Cincinnati but moved to the US Open site in New York because of COVID-19. The two events will be both played at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows, Xinhua reported. Nishikori now joins several high-profile players like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, women's world number one Ash Barty, defending champion Bianca Andreescu who have opted out of the year-ending tournament. Novak Djokovic remains the only big star player who has confirmed he will play the tournament.
