Ross Taylor to undergo eye surgery, will miss Australia tour

Ross Taylor to undergo eye surgery, will miss Australia tour WELLINGTON: New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has been cleared to play in the second test against Pakistan from Friday despite being diagnozed with an eye condition which will require surgery. However, Taylor will not be available for the one-day series to follow against Australia. Taylor visited a specialist on Wednesday who said while his sight is currently unaffected an operation will be necessary to avoid future deterioration. He will miss next month's Chappell Hadlee one-day series against Australia. New Zealand team physio Tommy Simsek said Taylor's left eye had a pterygium or growth which is gradually getting bigger. Simsek said Taylor "will need to undergo a medical procedure on his eye to remove the pterygium before it gets any larger. He'll have surgery following the test which will rule him out of cricket for approximately four to six weeks."
