Post Twitter Goof-Up, Pak Cricketer Umar Akmal Gets Suspended, Replaced In PSL 2020

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today suspended Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code. The PCB also allowed Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators to apply for Akmal's replacement in the tournament starting today. The right-handed batsman last played for Pakistan in the T20I series against Sri Lanka on home soil. In a media release, the PCB stated: "The Pakistan Cricket Board today suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1* of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, which means he cannot take part in any cricket-related activity pending the investigation being carried out by PCB's Anti-Corruption Unit." The board further said that it will not make any further comments as it is an ongoing investigation. Photo: www.pcb.com.pk Photo: pcb.com.pk According to PCB's Anti-Corruption code articles 2.4.4 and 2.4.5, a player has to disclose an approach to himself or any knowledge about misconduct to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department without any unnecessary delay. He had also said that he had immediately reported the incident to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit. In another incidence, Umar was approached during South Africa series in the UAE and the 2015 World Cup. He was offered a whopping sum of USD 200,000 to alter the game. Out-of-favour Pakistan batsman Akmal was brutally trolled for allegedly posting a hilariously wrong caption on Twitter on Wednesday. Umar posted a picture of himself with former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzak. He captioned it "Mother from another brother"  instead of "brother from another mother".
