Muhammad Ali Death Anniversary: Legendary Heavyweight’s 9 Knockout Quotes

Muhammad Ali 6th Death Anniversary: Professionally, Ali was known for his ferocity, trash talk, and flamboyant style.

Today, June 3, marks the 6th death anniversary of “The Greatest” heavyweight boxer Muhammad Ali — a world champion athlete and a proponent of civil rights.

Ali passed away in 2016 at the age of 74 due to respiratory issues. His condition worsened due to 32 years of suffering from Parkinson's syndrome, as per a BBC News report.

Professionally, Ali was known for his ferocity, trash talk, and flamboyant style but the most prestigious record held by him was that of being the first fighter to win the world heavyweight championship on three separate occasions. He defended his world titles 19 times during the course of his career.

Overall, he holds a record of 56 wins and 5 losses which include 37 knockouts.

On Muhammad Ali’s 6th death anniversary, let us look at some of his in and outside ring quotes:

1. “It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.”

2. "Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even."

3. “Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

4. “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'”

5. “At home I am a nice guy: but I don’t want the world to know. Humble people, I’ve found, don’t get very far.”

6. "A man who has no imagination has no wings."

7. “Live every day as if it were your last because someday you're going to be right.”

8. “It’s not bragging if you can back it up. Braggin' is when a person says something and can’t do it. I do what I say.”

9.  "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
