LIVE SCORE | INDIA vs ENGLAND | 2nd TEST | DAY 3

VIZAG

FULL SCORECARD

What an anti-climatic finish that was. Cook did all the hard work but got out just at the stroke of stumps. You have to applaud their efforts so far to save this Test match though. They started the day by bowling India out in the extended first session and then started off cautiously. They didn't lose a single wicket in the second session but two in the final session. Stumps on Day 4 #Wicket:Ravindra Jadeja to Alastair Cook, OUT! This could well be the game defining moment! Bowls it slower through the air around off, spins back in. Cook has his front foot across and gets into a bit of a tangle. Has to bring his bat down from a rounder angle but misses and is rapped on the pads. There is a loud, loud shout for LBW and the umpire rules it out after giving it a good thought. Cook reviews it straightaway. Time for Hawk Eye. There are three reds and Cook is a dead duck. A firm and resolute knock from Cook comes to an end and this could open the flood gates. THAT WILL BE STUMPS ON DAY 4! Cook reaches his 53rd half-century in Test cricket. #Wicket: Ravichandran Ashwin to Haseeb Hameed, OUT! Ashwin strikes and it is a huge, huge wicket! Lands it on a length just outside off, spins back in and keeps very low. Hameed camps back and does his best to keep it out but misses and is rapped low on the pads. There is a huge shout from Ashwin and the umpire obliges and rules it out. Indians are really pumped up. Hameed keeps walking on and doesn't take the review. It was a very brave and resolute knock and India have got an opening here. Can they put a dent in the English batting here? End of Over 43 ENG: 55/0 Haseeb Hameed 20 (128), Alastair Cook 40 (136) #TEA The English openers have been resolute in their defense and have seen off the new ball with ease. Indian spinners have bowled well but haven't got much purchase from the track yet. Will this tactic to block keep on working for them? They are playing nonchalantly at the moment with the old ball playing tricks and gripping on the surface. There is slow turn and Cook and Hameed have negotiated it calmly.
End of Over 26 (5 runs)
ENG : 40/0
Haseeb Hameed 12 (78), Alastair Cook 28 (78)

End of Over 13
ENG : 18/0
Alastair Cook 9 (36), Haseeb Hmeed 9 (42)
Huge task ahead for the visitors as they prepare to bat for  the remaining 5 sessions. Umesh Yadav will bowl from the other end. Mohhamed Shami will lead the Indian bowling attack Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed walk in as England chase mammoth total. England 2nd Innings  Virat Kohli was a class above once again. On a pitch where the batsmen were struggling to get their bat on ball, he was middling it and scored at a pretty good rate too. So England need 405 runs to win. It's going to be really difficult as the track has started to misbehave. Let's see how the visitors fight now. India will bank their bowlers to do the job. Join us back for fourth innings. Good comeback by England today to bowl out India in the first session itself! They picked up 7 wickets and it was started by Stuart Broad who dismissed Rahane and Ashwin in his superb first spell. The rest of the batters couldn't make their mark and kept giving away their wickets. Rashid was joined the party as well and picked up four wickets. Stuart Broad finished with four too. The last pair frustrated England though and took India's lead past 400. #WICKET: Moeen Ali to Mohammed Shami, OUT st Jonny Bairstow b Moeen Ali. India have been bowled out. #SIX: Adil Rashid to Mohammed Shami, SIX! Brute power from Shami! Saw Shami coming down so Rashid drags his length back a bit. Shami absolutely thumps it over long on and the ball sails over the boundary ropes. What a shot that was, made a cracking sound of the bat! #WICKET: Adil Rashid to Umesh Yadav, OUT! Rashid gets his fourth! Getting rewards for his probing lines and lengths! Bowls it slow through the air on middle and leg, Yadav with minimal foot movement looks to heave across the line but misses it completely. The ball spins and bounces away sharply to extract a faint edge towards the keeper, the ball hits Bairtsow's body first but he does well to grab it in the end. Superb work. India lead by 362! #WICKET: Adil Rashid to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! Jadeja departs in the hunt for quick runs! Tossed up on the stumps, Jadeja kneels and goes for the slog sweep. Doesn't time it that well and hits it right down the throat of Moeen Ali at deep mid-wicket who gets underneath it and takes a simple catch. Rashid gets his third and he has bowled pretty well. Ravindra Jadeja is the new man in. #WICKET: Adil Rashid to Wriddhiman Saha, OUT! Umpire's call! It's a googly around off, Saha lunges forward to defend but misses the variation and gets hit on the pads. The umpire takes his time and raises his finger as England appeal for a leg before. Saha waits for a while and decides to take a review. Replays show the ball would have clipped the leg stump so that is umpire's call which is out. India are six down, lead by 330 runs. #Wicket: Stuart Broad to Ravichandran Ashwin, OUT! Broad picks up another wicket and this time no review by Ashwin! Fuller length ball outside off, angled in, Ashwin tries to defend but gets a faint edge to the keeper behind. The umpire raises his finger and Ashwin starts walking back. Broad picks up his fourth wicket, he has bowled really well here and he's not even hundred percent fit. 40.6 overs: Stuart Broad to Ravichandran Ashwin, NOT OUT! Inside edge! Good length ball landed just outside off, Ashwin tries to defend but gets hit on the pads. Big appeal for a leg before and the umpire raises his finger. Ashwin takes a review straightaway. Replays show there is an inside edge and the umpire overturns his decision. Ashwin survives! Ravichandran Ashwin walks in next. #Wicket: Stuart Broad to Ajinkya Rahane, OUT! Edged and gone! It's a length ball outside off, it's a leg-cutter, Rahane pokes at it and gets a thick outside edge. The ball flies straight into the hands of Alastair Cook at first slip who makes no mistake. Stuart Broad takes his third wicket. Twin failure for Rahane in this Test match. India lead by 317 runs. 35.6 overs: James Anderson to Virat Kohli, FIVE OVERTHROWS! Landed outside off, Kohli taps it to point and sets off for a quick single. Stokes comes charging in, collects the ball and throws it at the non-striker's end but there is no one backing up. The ball ricochets and goes to the fence as well. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane walk out to the crease. The Indian skipper is unbeaten on 56 and eyeing twin tons in this Test. Can he achieve that feat? Stuart Broad to bowl first up for England. Here we go! Hello everyone to the coverage of day 4 of the second Test between India and England in Vizag. The hosts are firmly in control with a lead of 298 already and have lost just three wickets. They would look to bat more than one session and set a huge target for their visitors. Let's see how England fightback from this position.
