LIVE SCORE IND V ENG 1st T20I: England win the match by 7 wickets

LIVE SCORE | INDIA VS ENGLAND | 1st T20I

Kanpur

FULL SCORECARD

Chahal was the only Indian bowler who had a good outing while the others all copped a lot of stick. There wasn't enough runs on the board but the Indian bowlers never tried enough, often faltering in their lengths. Full marks to England's bowlers who did their homework well earlier in the afternoon to restrict India to a below par score. Back to back wins for England on the tour now after the ODI win in Kolkata. A clinical performance by England to go 1-0 up in the 3-match T20I series. The tourists got a brisk start in pursuit of the modest target but both openers departed in the same over to Chahal to give India a glimmer of hope. Skipper Morgan though ensured that there was no comeback for the hosts as rattled a blistering fifty. His partnership with Root virtually sealed the game for England. The captain departed at the brink but Root and Stokes completed the formalities. England win the first T20 by 7 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series

OUT! Rasool gets his maiden T20 wicket. Morgan departs for well made 51.

100 up for England, ominous signs for India

England: 76/2. Joe Root 13 (18), Eoin Morgan 21 (21)

Overs: 10

England: 46/2. Joe Root 3 (6), Eoin Morgan 1 (3)

Overs: 5

OUT! Right through the defense of Sam Billings. Chahal gets two in one over.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Jason Roy, OUT! Spin does the trick for India! Chahal has his revenge after being hit for six on his very first ball! Leg spinner outside off, Roy looks to slog it once again. Gets it off the inside edge, onto the pads and then onto the stumps. Roy is disappointed with that!

OUT! BOWED! Chahal castles Jason Roy for 19. England 42/1

England: 24/0. Sam Billings 21 (8), Jason Roy 3 (4)

2o runs off Bumrah's first over. England off to a flier.

England begin their chase. Target 148

It was a brilliant bowling performance from England with Ali being the standout while Jordan and Mills were excellent too, especially at the death. Stokes and Plunkett were slightly expensive but picked vital wickets. The track is two-paced and slower balls might be difficult to score. Still, India are about 15 runs short on the pitch. Advantage England at this stage but if no dew comes up, India's spinners can shine. Join us in a while for the chase.

Excellent performance from England after opting to bowl. Kohli and Raina got starts but failed to get going as wickets kept falling at regular intervals for the hosts. India were never really able to get momentum in the innings and eventually meandered past the 145-run mark which was due to a handy unbeaten knock from Dhoni who however couldn't finish it the way he would have wanted to.

That's the end of Indian innings. England restricts India to 147/7

INDIA 128/6. MS Dhoni 19 (17), Parvez Rasool 3 (4)

OVERS: 18

Tymal Mills to Hardik Pandya, OUT! FIRST T20I WICKET FOR MILLS! Back of a length outside off, Pandya backs away to flat bat it away but mistimes it high towards sweeper cover. Extra bounce does the trick and that's an easy catch for Billings. India's innings continues to implode.

OUT! Pandya his hold out at deep point. India 118/6

INDIA 106/5. MS Dhoni 7 (7), Hardik Pandya 7 (8)

OVERS: 15

Moeen Ali to Manish Pandey, OUT! ALI HAS ANOTHER! Excellent phase this for England and the Indians are in trouble now. Floated around off, Pandey misses the flick and is rapped on the pads. That looked plumb to the naked eye and the umpire's finger goes up instantly. Pandey fails to impress. What a spell this is turning out to be from Moeen!
Moeen Ali to Manish Pandey, OUT lbw b Moeen Ali. India have lost their fifth wicket.

Ben Stokes to Suresh Raina, OUT! STOKES HAS HIS REVENGE! Brilliant leg stump yorker and Raina misses the flick as he shuffles a lot across the stumps. He had been moving far too across the sticks from the start today and ultimately, it costs him. Vital wicket this for England as Raina was looking deadly.

OUT! BOWLED! Stokes strikes, that's the end of Raina

INDIA 75/2. MS Dhoni 5 (5), Suresh Raina 28 (21)

OVERS: 12

Liam Plunkett to Yuvraj Singh, OUT! SOFT DISMISSAL! Shortish around leg stump, Yuvraj gets across to whip it away but the ball stops a touch off the surface. He is early into the stroke and pops a leading edge that goes towards deep fine leg. Rashid comes forward and takes a tumbling catch. The umpires go upstairs to check it if the catch is clean with the soft signal being out. The third umpire is convinced that the catch is clean and so Yuvraj has to go. India slipping a bit at this stage.

OUT! What a wonderful catch in the outfield by Adil Rashid. Yuvraj the man departs for 12. India 75/3

INDIA 75/2. Yuvraj Singh 12 (12), Suresh Raina 20 (14)

OVERS: 10

INDIA 68/2. Yuvraj Singh 6 (8), Suresh Raina 19 (12)

OVERS: 9

OUT! HUGE wicket for England. Indian captain Viorat Kohli goes for 29. India 55/2

INDIA 55/1. Virat Kohli 29 (25), Suresh Raina 13 (9)

OVERS: 7

INDIA 47/1. Virat Kohli 26 (22), Suresh Raina 1o (6)

OVERS: 6

INDIA 36/1. Virat Kohli 24 (20), Suresh Raina 1 (2)

OVERS: 5

Chris Jordan to Lokesh Rahul, OUT! Rahul once again falls cheaply! Jordan with the breakthrough! Banged in short, Rahul looks to pull it but ends up top edging it high in the air. Rashid at short fine leg has to move a couple of steps before completing an easy catch. Another failure for Rahul! England are delighted!

OUT! KL Rahul goes for 8, India lose their first wicket.

INDIA 33/0. Virat Kohli 22 (18), K Rahul 8 (7)

OVERS: 4

INDIA 22/0. Virat Kohli 12 (13), K Rahul 7 (6)

OVERS: 3

INDIA 16/0. Virat Kohli 10 (11), K Rahul 4 (2)

OVERS: 2

Tymal Mills to Lokesh Rahul, FOUR! Takes the aerial route! Short and width on offer, Rahul cuts it over backward point and the ball races to the fence. 9 runs off the over!
Tymal Mills to Virat Kohli, FOUR! Back of a length outside off, angling across, VK punches it through cover-point. Gets off the mark with a boundary!

LOKESH RAHUL and VIRAT KOHLI to open for India. TYMAL MILLS to start the proceedings with the ball. It's a packed crowd out there, set for an entertaining one. Let's play...

VIRAT KOHLI says that he would have bowled first too but maintains that toss isn't something a captain can control. Hopes that his side can start well and do the basics right. Reflects on the good mix of youth and experience in the side as a good point for the team. Expects that it will be a very good batting pitch. Says that PARVEZ RASOOL is making his debut. Mandeep Singh, Amit Mishra, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant are the ones missing out.

EOIN MORGAN says that England will bowl. Feels that the win in the final ODI series was a confidence booster and adds that it was a hardly fought duel there. Hopes that his side can keep up the winning momentum in this series as well. Feels that it is tough to predict a par score and maintains that it is a good pitch. Jake Ball, Jonny Bairstow, David Willey (injury) and Liam Dawson are the ones missing out for England.

England have won the toss and have decided to put India in. David Willey sits out because of injury.

Big News from India camp. Parvez Rasool Makes his T2OI debut, Amit Mishra misses out. It's still a mystery whether Virat Kohli will open the batting or not.
