IPL 2025: Two Strong Options For Punjab Kings' Opening Partnership

IPL 2025: Punjab Kings (PBKS) have several players who can take up the opening role.

Punjab Kings' Opening Partnership Options: Punjab Kings (PBKS) have made major strategic changes ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, appointing Shreyas Iyer as captain and Ricky Ponting as head coach.

With a revamped leadership setup, the franchise is hopeful of finally ending its 17-year title drought. One of the key decisions for Punjab Kings (PBKS) this season will be finalizing a strong opening pair.

Have a look at the two players who are likely to take up this role.

Punjab Kings' Probable Opening Pair

After an eventful Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have several players who can take up the opening role. However, the team management will be looking for a combination that can provide explosive starts. Based on form and playing style, Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis are the strongest contenders for the job.

Prabhsimran Singh's IPL performance

Prabhsimran Singh has been part of Punjab Kings since 2019 and has established himself as a reliable opener. In 25 IPL matches as an opener, he has scored 606 runs at a strike rate of 151.50 and an average of 24.24. His tally includes one century and three half-centuries, along with 35 sixes and 60 fours, making him a strong candidate for the role.

Josh Inglis, on the other hand, is relatively new to Indian Premier League (IPL) but has shown his aggressive batting style in international cricket. He has experience opening in T20Is, and his attacking approach could complement Prabhsimran well, ensuring Punjab Kings (PBKS) get off to flying starts.
