IPL 2025 Restart: First Match After Break Likely To Feature These Two Teams

Reports suggest that this match will be replayed in its entirety from the first ball.

The 18th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) was postponed due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. However, with a ceasefire now in place, signs of the league resuming have started to emerge.

PBKS vs DC to kick off IPL resumption?

The 59th match of IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was being played in Dharamsala when it was abruptly halted due to the unrest. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later cancelled the match. Interestingly, the IPL points table hasn't been updated since, and no points were awarded to either team.

Recent reports suggest that this match will be replayed in its entirety from the first ball. This indicates that when IPL 2025 resumes, PBKS vs DC is likely to be the first fixture on the revised schedule.

South India likely to host remaining matches

With the league's suspension, Indian players had returned home, and foreign players began heading back as well. Now that the situation has stabilized, the BCCI is reportedly planning to conduct the remaining 16 matches across three venues.

According to sources, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru are being considered as the hosts for the rest of the tournament. While an official announcement is still awaited, preparations are reportedly underway in these cities.

In an official statement released on Saturday, BCCI Secretary Rajeev Shukla confirmed that board officials, along with members of the IPL Governing Council, will convene on Sunday to finalize a revised schedule for the remainder of IPL 2025.

"IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week in view of the current situation. The new schedule for the tournament will be announced after consultation with all stakeholders. We are proud of the Indian Army. BCCI stands with our Armed Forces and the government."said Rajiv Shukla.
