Australian cricketer Steve Smith has started the new innings by making his commentary debut Indian Premier League through hologram on Friday. Earlier, on Monday, he surprised everyone by announcing that he will be taking part in the IPL 2023 but then he did not disclose his role.
On Friday, Smith was spotted doing his commentary duties with his fellow Aussies Tom Moody and Aaron Finch in the Star Sports studio. However, the Aussie star is still in Australia but with the hologram technology, he was beamed virtually to the Star Sports studio in India.

Previously, Star Sports also confirmed Smith’s participation and said, “Steve Smith has joined the expert panel for the marquee tournament. Smith will be making his broadcast debut with Star Sports, adding his invaluable insights and expertise to Star Sports’ already impressive roster of panelists."

Talking about Smith’s IPL career, he started by playing for Pune Warriors back in 2012 and then joined Rajasthan Royals for two seasons. In the 2017 season, he led the Rising Pune Supergiants to the final, before coming back to the Royals and leading the team in 2020 Recently, under the leadership of Smith, Australia won the three-match One-Day-International series against India, in India by 2-1.
