With the win, South Africa took the series 1-0. Notably, the victory propelled the Proteas ahead of Pakistan and England in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings, marking their second win in the current edition of the Test tournament.

Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj's three-wicket hauls, along with key contributions from Wiaan Mulder, helped South Africa defend a target of 263 against a determined West Indies in Guyana, securing a hard-fought team victory. West Indies fought hard, with their lower-middle order sticking through but eventually fell short as they could only manage 222 in the fourth innings of the test.

Earlier, the Proteas posted 246 in their second innings, extending a 16-run first-innings lead after West Indies posted 144 against South Africa’s 160 in the first innings. Kyle Verreynne and Aiden Markram each contributed fifties, while Jayden Seales made a significant impact with a six-wicket haul in the second innings.
