New Delhi: Shocking acrobatic abilities at boundary line by the fielders has been the highlight throughout this Big Bash League season. The cricketing world was still recovering from the combined brilliance of Weatherald and Ben Laughlin on Monday. Going a step ahead of the duo, Evan Gulbis pulled off a screamer against Sydney Sixers on Tuesday.

The incident happened in the first over of the Sixers inning. Chasing a steep target of 190, the Sixers had to score from ball one. Opener Daniel Hughes on the final ball of the over tried hitting James Faulkner out of the park but could not strike the ball out of the middle. The ball somewhat went between deep-square-leg and mid-wicket. Evan Gulbis who was standing at deep square-leg sensed the opportunity. Making up a tonne of ground to his right, Gulbis dove sideways and reeled in an absolute stunner with one hand.

The Big Bash commentators went berserk by the effort.

“That is unbelievable! Evan Gulbis has pulled off a ripper!” Ricky Ponting said.

“We saw a good one last night. This is better! This is as good, if not better,” Adam Gilchrist added.

Although Melbourne Stars eventually lost the match but Gulbis ripper at the boundary rope stole the show.

Match summary

Sydney Sixers 5 for 190 (Denly 72*, Maddinson 61, Gulbis 2-22) beat Melbourne Stars 5 for 189 (Maxwell 84, Brathwaite 2-31) by five wickets
