WATCH: Dhoni's bullet throw sends Willey back

Can an opposition innings end without a Dhoni touch? Nope, it can’t. Just when it was looking that MS Dhoni was having a quiet match by his standards, despite taking two catches, Dhoni pulled a rabbit out of his hat, or his gloves to be precise in the 2nd ODI at Lord’s.

In the last ball of the England innings, Joe Root tried to pinch a bye after David Willey had failed to make connection from a fuller length Sidharth Kaul delivery. With Dhoni, behind the stumps, it was not the best idea, however, one can’t blame Root, for it was the last delivery of the England innings, and he had to run for everything.

Dhoni, like he had done the in 2nd T20I at Cardiff, gathered the ball cleanly and knocked the stumps with a bullet-like throw. Root well was well short of his crease. In fact, the striker David Willey was at first given out as the umpires thought that he hadn’t crossed. It was only after the innings that the umpires changed their decision and Root was given out.

Dhoni also became the first Indian keeper to complete 300 catches in ODI cricket on Saturday. He took a good reflex catch of Jos Buttler off Umesh Yadav’s bowling.
