Virat Kohli Sets Unwanted Record In IND vs AUS Perth Test, But Not For Batting Performance

After India opted to bat first on day 1 of Perth Test, Virat Kohli could only manage 5 runs off 12 balls before being dismissed by Usman Khawaja off a Josh Hazlewood delivery.

Virat Kohli Unwanted Record IND vs AUS Perth Test: Batting legend Virat Kohli's ongoing struggle with form remains a growing concern for Team India, especially after his underwhelming performance in the recent home series against New Zealand. Expectations were high for Kohli in IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth, given his strong record in Australia. However, the veteran disappointed both the team and his fans with another poor outing.

After India opted to bat first on day 1 of Perth Test, Virat Kohli could only manage 5 runs off 12 balls before being dismissed by Usman Khawaja off a Josh Hazlewood delivery.

To make matters worse, Kohli also dropped a simple catch during India's bowling. He failed to hold on to a sharp edge off Marnus Labuschagne from a Jasprit Bumrah delivery, missing a big opportunity to dismiss the Aussie Test specialist.

Captain Jasprit Bumrah spearheads India's remarkable fightback after batting no-show

After India were bowled out for 150, Skipper Jasprit Bumrah's stellar spell left hosts Australia reeling at 67/7, helping the visitors bounce back strongly after a disappointing batting display on Day 1 of IND vs AUS Perth Test.

A total of 17 wickets fell on the opening day of Perth Test, a rare feat not witnessed in a Test match on Australian soil for seven decades.

India elected to bat first after winning the toss but faltered as both the young guns and seasoned players failed to rise to the occasion. Debutant Nitish Reddy's 41 and Rishabh Pant's 37 offered some resistance, taking the team's total to 150 in 49.4 overs. Australia's bowlers dominated the innings, with Josh Hazlewood (4/29), Mitchell Starc (2/14 in 11 overs), Pat Cummins (2/67 in 15.4 overs), and Mitchell Marsh (2/12 in 5 overs) sharing the spoils.
