Veterans Warne and Vaughan slam "ridiculous" ICC decision

The ICC said in a statement that Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the suspension on Holder after Windies were two overs short of their target for the match

ICC decided to suspend Windies skipper Jason Holder for the third and final Test against England due to his team's slow over-rate during their victory in Antigua last week. The 27-year-old all-rounder was also fined 40 percent of his match fee, while all the other Windies players were fined 20 percent each.

Cricket's governing body banned Holder, despite the hosts playing four seamers and the regular fall of wickets as England were bowled out for 187 and 132.

The ICC said in a statement that Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the suspension on Holder after Windies were two overs short of their target for the match.

After this, veterans Shane Warne and Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to react.

Shane Warne said, "The test didn't go 3 days - can you please appeal this @JaseHolder98 ! What a ridiculous decision - where's the common sense here ? Ps Congrats on a wonderful series win too. International cricket needs a strong Windies team & hopefully this is just the start @BrianLara."

Michael Vaughan said, "246 over Test Match .. that amounts to 2.6 days of Cricket .. A team hammers the opposition & plays great Test cricket yet the Captain gets a ban for Slow over rate .. @Jaseholder98 can find himself very very unlucky on this occasion .. !! The game really doesn't help itself ..."

The final Test in St Lucia starts on Saturday, with the Caribbean side looking for a famous series whitewash.
