Suryakumar Yadav's Cryptic Post Leaves Fans Confused

Fans wonder if Surya’s cryptic post has some context to the recent captaincy shuffle within the Mumbai Indians squad.

In a shocking series of events, Suryakumar Yadav who plays for Mumbai Indians, came up with a cryptic story on his social media handle featuring a broken heart emoji. Recently, Mumbai Indians removed Rohit Sharma from captaincy and appointed Hardik Pandya as the new skipper for the upcoming season. Fans wonder if Surya’s cryptic post has some context to the recent captaincy shuffle within the Mumbai Indians squad.

On Friday, the five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians announced that all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be their new skipper for the upcoming season.

"It is part of legacy building and staying true to the MI philosophy of being future-ready. It is in keeping with this philosophy that Hardik Pandya will assume captaincy of Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024 season," MI's global head of performance Mahela Jayawardene said in a statement.

Mumbai’s massive decision also marks the end of Rohit’s illustrious career as a leader as he powered this team to an impressive five IPL titles. Rohit took the captaincy onus in 2013 and has played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians’ journey to victory in all five IPL titles. Out of all the battles, most of the time, MI sealed victories against CSK in the showdown. The first time Mumbai sealed the IPL title was back in 2013 and they flowed it up by winning the title again in 2015 with both their wins coming by playing against CSK in the finals.

MI continued their dominance in the IPL by winning the title again in the 2019 IPL final and followed it up by defending their title against Delhi Capitals in 2020. Talking about Rohit’s batting, he is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL as he collected a total of 6211 runs, out of which 3986 were made during his captaincy. Hardik Pandya who will now lead the Mumbai side, has scored 1476 runs and claimed 42 wickets for the franchise. He also played a crucial role in MI’s title-winning campaigns in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
